Industrial Barrel Wall Hanging – White’s Port Cement PB Brass SK746

Description

Part of our distinctive Barrel Range, this original wooden pattern mould carries the unmistakable marks of decades spent in industrial production. Cylindrical in form and deeply textured with age, it has been carefully preserved and repurposed into a sculptural wall hanging that celebrates South Africa’s engineering heritage.

Etched into the timber are the words:  “White’s Port Cement PB Brass SK746”  while bold black workshop writing reads: “F-14-1-”

Additional yellow workshop markings remain visible across the top edge, adding another layer of authentic foundry history and visual character.

One of the standout features of this piece is the raised black timber block fixed to the side of the barrel form, creating strong contrast against the warm aged wood and giving the piece a more architectural, mechanical feel. The barrel is mounted using a salvaged circlip, allowing it to hang flush against the wall while retaining its industrial integrity.

The timber itself displays beautiful tonal variation, dark burnished edges, natural cracking, worn surfaces, and a rich patina earned through years of use in a working environment. Every imperfection contributes to the story.
