Vintage Industrial Pattern Mould Wall Hanging – SIMCO Slipper Base No.1-A

Description

This striking vintage wall hanging is an original engineering pattern mould once used to cast parts for mining machinery approximately 60 years ago. Pattern moulds like this were carefully carved wooden forms used in foundries to create the moulds for metal machine components.

Finished in its original red factory paint, now beautifully weathered and chipped with age, the piece carries the authentic patina of decades of industrial use. The central framed section still bears the marking “SIMCO ADJ SLIPPER BASE”, with the pattern reference 1-A and handwritten B62-2-2 visible on the surface – remnants of the factory’s working history.

The piece shows genuine factory wear, including a broken edge on one projecting element and slight bending on another, evidence of its long working life.

Solid wood construction and small metal fittings around the edges add to its rugged mechanical character.

This piece works beautifully as industrial wall art, or simply leaned against a wall or placed on the floor as a sculptural decor element.

A true one-of-a-kind find – original engineering moulds like this were working tools, not decorative pieces, making surviving examples extremely rare.
