Description
This striking piece from our Barrel Range carries all the character of a true working-foundry artefact. Originally used as a wooden pattern mould, the cylindrical “barrel” form is mounted onto its original timber backing board and still secured with aged workshop string and old nails – details that give the piece incredible authenticity and soul.
Etched into the timber is: “White’s Cement PB Brasses” while faded workshop markings including “White’s Cement 718” and “16-1-1” remain visible, preserving part of the piece’s industrial story.
The barrel itself features deep weathering, warm timber tones, darkened burn-like patina, cracks from age, and beautifully imperfect hand-worked surfaces developed over decades of use. The original construction methods and fastening details become part of the artwork itself, giving this piece a raw, sculptural quality that feels both historic and contemporary.
Mounted vertically, it works beautifully as a standalone statement piece or paired with other pieces from the Barrel Range for a curated industrial gallery wall.
