This compact piece from our smaller Barrel Range may be modest in scale, but it carries strong visual impact and unmistakable industrial character.
Originally a wooden foundry pattern mould, the cylindrical barrel form retains bold original workshop writing that reads:
“SIMCO Split Bush”
“2 Patt No SIM 14”
The strong hand-lettered typography gives this piece a graphic, almost typographic quality, while the warm red-painted timber contrasts beautifully against the black-painted ends.
Two distinct sets of drilled pattern holes remain visible across the front surface – subtle reminders of the piece’s original working life in an industrial environment.
Mounted using a reclaimed salvaged circlip, the piece hangs flush against the wall while preserving the authenticity of the original materials and engineering heritage.
The timber surface shows years of wear, workshop use, chipped paint, scratches, and aged patina that together create a deeply tactile and soulful object.
